The problem
People need to exchange messages during blackouts, in dead zones and during shutdowns, when there is no network at all.
The approach
Android phones talk directly over Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi Direct and relay text and photos between peers, with no server and no internet connection.
Results
- 231 JVM unit tests passing.
What broke and what I learned
- Closed a security gap: a direct message is now held until the peer's agreement key is known instead of being sent in plaintext. The receiving side still accepts plaintext from older builds, tracked on the roadmap.
